Hayes Park Welcomes its First Commercial Tenants

First Commercial Partners Lined Up For Johns Island Project

Published October 04, 2022

Under the shade of century-old live oak trees, Hayes Park on Johns Island is creating a unique experience for Lowcountry residents. New Leaf Builders is excited to announce several commercial partners who will call Hayes Park home.

Hayes Park is a destination where you can grab a cup of coffee in the morning. You’ll sit with a friend and a tall glass of iced tea for lunch. And where everything you need is right there, surrounded by history and a well-preserved natural landscape.

Hayes Park is nestled along the Maybank Highway corridor. The 16-acre community is protecting 1,500 feet of grand century-old oak trees that will give you a sense of why this Lowcountry location is so distinct.

This sense of place and time is present for a reason.

“We were fortunate to be able to work with the family that owned this property for multiple generations and that they gave us the time to create something truly exceptional for all to enjoy,” New Leaf founder Adam Baslow said.

Visitors and residents will discover many different experiences at Hayes Park. Reward yourself with your favorite pour at Somm Wine Bar, or stop by High Steaks Butcher Shop to grab something for the grill.

These first tenants will make Hayes Park a special place. And you’ll see a few of them as soon as December 2023, with more to come in the future.

Five acres of commercial space are available at Hayes Park, designed to be home to great retail shops, uncommon restaurants, and many other businesses to serve the community.

For those who want to make Hayes Park a permanent lifestyle, New Leaf will build 56 single-family and townhome floorplans.

New Leaf’s focus for this project is to preserve the natural beauty that makes Johns Island iconic.

“Johns Island is a special place, and given the high visibility and scale of the grand trees on this property, we spent considerable time designing these buildings to work with the existing features of the property,” Baslow said. “In order to deliver the best product for the community and bring Hayes Park to life, we worked around all the trees we could while protecting the natural wetlands on the rear of the property.”

Baslow added, “It is exciting to see this uniquely designed neighborhood come to fruition after many years of intense focus. We know our future tenants and residents will be excited to call Hayes Park their home.”
