As many of us are at home practicing social distancing right now, we’re all interested in finding something to look forward to throughout the week, and many local and national organizations have been stepping up to put out some great free web exclusive content during this time. You may have heard of the Met Opera streaming their performances, or tour some online exhibits at the National Gallery of Art in DC, but there are some great local organizations that are doing their part to help provide an online escape for folks working from home right now.
Here’s some Charleston-based organizations that are doing their part to keep people engaged and entertained!
Charleston County Public Library
The incredible folks at the Charleston County Public Library have been putting out some great content, from Live Storytime with Miss Devon for kids, some history lessons, even a Virtual Tai Chi Class.

South Carolina Aquarium
The Aquarium may be closed to visitors, but staff are still responsible for all of the animals inside. They’ve done a great job with scheduling and streaming educational content on their website and Facebook pages.

Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry
As all schools are curently closed until the end of April, we’re all trying to find new and engaging ways to keep our kids from loosing their minds. CML has been posting some great crafts videos on their Facebook page.

Bummerville Amphitheater, a nonprofit music organization in Summerville, is hosting live-stream concerts from his backyard, each featuring a different local band on their Facebook page.

Riverbanks Zoo
While not in the Lowcountry, we won’t hold that against the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia! They have done a great job posting multiple videos and educational content they call Z-Learning. See what all the cute animals at Riverbanks are up to here.
